Became a fellow of the Institute of Actuaries in London in 1991.
From 1985 to 2001 he filled various positions in Sanlam, starting in the individual life division and from 1996 in the pensions division.
Joined Simeka Consultants & Actuaries in 2001 where he consulted to funds on actuarial issues. He was responsible for managing the actuarial and consulting team in Pretoria, and also chaired their Actuarial Governance Board.
Joined the Financial Services Board in May 2007 and is currently their Chief Actuary.
During his years in the actuarial profession, he has held the following positions:

Member of the CPD Committee and Health Care Committee
Member of the Retirement Matters Committee, Short Term Insurance Committee and of the Life Assurance Committee.
Member of the International Affairs Board of ASSA
Member of the Insurance Regulation Committee and the Actuarial Standards Committee of the International Actuarial Association (IAA).
He is the immediate past Chairman of the Pension Benefits and Social Security section (PBSS) committee of the IAA.
